How we compare: built for the little guy

Professional crypto-tracing firms do serious work, but they're priced for big losses. Private tracing firms and law firms often charge about $1,250 to $6,000 or more for a tracing report or investigation.

Published examples: Yepyr, a Dutch investigation agency, charges a €1,250 file fee plus €300 per hour (source). CEL Solicitors in the UK prices a standard crypto tracing report at £6,000 plus VAT (source). CipherBlade lists a $5,000+ minimum project size (Clutch profile). Prices as published in October 2026.

Watch out for recovery scams. The FBI and FTC warn that people who promise to "get your crypto back" for an upfront fee are often scammers targeting victims a second time. Real law enforcement never charges you to recover funds. No one can guarantee recovery, and anyone asking for your seed phrase is stealing from you.
